Festivals, Fencing, Fish Fry and More in Montgomery County This Weekend

Looking for something exciting to do this weekend? Check out some of the fun things going on around town.

Silver Spring Jazz Festival Where: Veterans Plaza, Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Plaza, Silver Spring, MD. When: Saturday, Sept. 8, 3:30 to 9 p.m. Description: Montgomery County's celebration of America's great art form, featuring prominent local talent and internationally renowned headliners. A wide variety of food will be available for purchase. Performances will be outside, so bring a blanket or chair.  Price: Free.   Annual Fish Fry Where: The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 13925 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD. Fairs, Markets, Comedy and More in Montgomery County This Weekend

Looking for something exciting to do this weekend? Check out some of the fun things going on around town.

Montgomery County Fair Where: 16 Chestnut St., Gaithersburg. When: Aug. 10 through 18. Fridays: 3 p.m. to midnight. Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to midnight. Why go: Check out the largest agricultural county fair in Maryland; features farm animals, rides, food and entertainment. Price: $10. Children 11 and under are free.   Kids Day: Costumes, Games and Family Fun Where: Briggs Chaney-Greencastle Farmers and Artisans’ Market in northeast Silver Spring, located at 3300 Briggs Chaney Rd. Zoo Lights Where/When: National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Ave., Washington, DC). Dec. 2-4, 9-11, 16-23 and 26-30 and Jan. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. (The zoo is still open during the day, but the lights won't necessarily be on.)
