The pie contest sated appetites across the market.
At the Takoma Park Farmers Market on Sept. 16, pies were the main event. There were 23 pies entered, 161 slices served and over $500 collected for the market's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Match Fund. Judges were Mayor Bruce Williams, Rocco Casagrande of Takoma business Gryphon Scientific, Council Member Kay Daniels-Cohen, Tebabu Assefa of Blessed Coffee and Leigh Lambert of Naughty Bits Brownies.

Food trucks will be at Takoma Junction every Friday.
Food trucks have come to Takoma Park to sate the appetites of hungry residents and boost business in Takoma Junction. The program, kickstarted by the Old Takoma Business Association, started July 13 with the Go Fish food truck and will run for a three-month trial period, according to a report in The Gazette. The first run was such a success that Go Fish sold out of food. Here is the schedule for future food trucks: A new food truck wil be visiting the Takoma Junction, in the city parking lot next to the TPSS Co-op, on Fridays from 5:00pm-8:00pm:

From June to October, taking a stroll through Old Takoma will be more like an art tour than shopping experience. The reCYCLE The Art of Tree Project public art exhibit, sponsored by the Old Takoma Business Association, will be installed June 2. The sidewalks will be filled with sculptures made from re-purposed items by local artists. Additional tree artwork is also on exhibit and available for sale at ArtSpring Community Art Store as a stop on the tour. Art Hop will be March 24 and 25.
Public art is set to invade Old Takoma this weekend. Main Street Takoma's annual Art Hop will transform Carroll Avenue into an open air salon March 24 and 25. The event will showcase a variety of art including photography, jewelry, sculpture, installations and collage and mixed media work from more than 30 artists in shops throughout Old Takoma. Below is a list of artists and where they are showing.
