Blair Beats Richard Montgomery on Senior Night

The Blazers won 38-8 on Friday

The Blazers of Montgomery Blair High School have not had a successful season by the standard definition of the word. However, judging by the post-game celebration at the 20-yard line following their 38-8 Senior Night victory over visiting Richard Montgomery on Friday evening, you would never know that to be the case. Blair entered the game with an unimpressive 2-6 record. They won their homecoming game last week over Walter Johnson after dropping four straight contests. The losses they have amassed this season though, were generally not blowouts. It may be an exaggeration to call them competitive, but the Blazers certainly should not be put in the same category as teams like Kennedy or Blake. While losing was certainly the norm for Blair …

Blair Falls to 1-5 Despite Strong Second Half

The Blazers lost to Sherwood on Friday night.

After a dreadful first half in which the Blazers couldn't get anything going offensively, the Blair football team came out of the locker room and mounted a pair of sustained scoring drives. Unfortunately for the Blazers, the damage had already been done, as Sherwood built a 28-0 halftime lead and cruised to 41-13 victory in its Homecoming game on Friday. "We made a lot of mistakes in the first half and they made a lot of plays," Blair coach Jeffrey Seals said after the game. "I can't take anything away from them. They made the plays and we didn't make the plays on defense or offense." Assani Mudimbi carried the ball 20 times for 94 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Blazers, who fell to 1-5 on the season. Sherwood (6-0) struck quickly, …

Blair Falls to Springbrook in Defensive Contest

The Blazers couldn't earn their second victory despite playing solid defense on Friday.

In a defensive battle between 4A East division rivals, Springbrook rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to remain unbeaten with an 8-3 home victory over Blair on Friday. The Blue Devils, who improved to 4-0, now head into next weekend's showdown with 3A state title contender Damascus. Meanwhile, Blair dropped to 1-3 after earning their first win of the season in last week's come-from-behind victory over Wheaton. Blair head coach Jeff Seals called the loss "very frustrating" and noted that "we made our own mistakes." Errors aside, the Blair defense, who gave up 42 points against Wheaton, held the Blue Devils scoreless in the first half. "They're a big, physical team and they took it to us," said Springbrook Coach Rob Wendel. "They …
