Docs in Progress and We Are Takoma are partnering for a free screening of Keeping the Kibbutz Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m., at the Takoma Park Community Center. DC-based filmmakers Tessa Moran and Ben Crosbie made the documentary about how the kibbutz was a movement focused on a communal lifestyle and economy, but often transitioned to a capitalist model that the modern economic climate of Israel demands. "Keeping the Kibbutz examines the challenges faced by a community in transition from the perspective of some of its most devoted members," according to promotional material about the event. Essakane Unveiled will be screened for free at 7:30 p.m. at the Takoma Park auditorium as part of the Docs in Progress series.
