Arrests Made in Gang-Related Assault in Silver Spring

Police said the arrests are part of an investigation involving a street gang known as "Little R" or "La Raza."

Montgomery County police arrested three men from Aspen Hill, Rockville and Glenmont earlier this month as part of an investigation into a series of assaults and robberies in the Wheaton and Good Hope areas. According to a statement from police, the investigation involves a street gang known as "Little R" or "La Raza." On Nov. 4, Montgomery County police responded to the 1400 block of Silo Way in the Good Hope area of Silver Spring, where the victim, a 22-year-old man from Rockville, was attending a party. What had started as a verbal dispute over beer escalated into an assault, and multiple people struck the victim's head repeatedly with broken glass bottles.  He sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, …

Child and Mother Assaulted at Takoma Park Bus Stop

The assault took place Friday morning.

A child and his mother were assaulted Friday at a bus stop near New Hampshire Avenue and Holton Lane, Takoma Park Police said. Around 11:36 a.m. police responded to the bus stop for an assault in progress. A woman was at the stop with her three-year-old child who was crying when a man told the woman to "shut her kid up," according to police. When the child continued to cry, the man pushed the three-year-old and knocked him to the ground, police said. The child’s mother attempted to defend her child and the suspect punched the mother in the mouth and then fled on foot southbound on New Hampshire Avenue, police said.   Neither victim suffered serious injuries and police are looking out for the suspect.

Man Assaulted on Fourth Avenue in Attempted Robbery

The man did not sustain any serious injuries.

Takoma Park Police are searching for three men who attempted to rob a man Wednesday evening in the 6400 block of 4th Avenue. Around 7:28 p.m. on Mar. 21, a man walking down 4th Avenue noticed a gray sedan following him, police said. Two suspects got out of the car and demanded property. Then the suspects assaulted the victim while trying to forcibly remove property from him, according to police. The victim flagged down a vehicle passing by and the suspects returned to their car and headed toward Eastern Avenue.
