Remembering 9/11: Promoting Peace at the Takoma Park Folk Festival

This year's festival will be held on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The Takoma Park Folk Festival, in its 33rd year, will be hosted this year on Sept. 11, and members of the organizing committee are using the date to promote their theme of peace and reconciliation. Performers for the event have been encouraged to present music and dance related to the peace theme. The folk festival committee wants artists to show how music can promote unity and harmony across cultures. Several performers, including Emma’s Revolution and Magpie, are known for their peace activism. The festival will also provide opportunities for visitors to hear and discuss various points of view with musicians at the community tables.
