The Big Cheesy: Can Fair Vendor Set Grilled Cheese Record?

Ed Hogan's stand at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair ordered up 500-pound blocks of Wisconsin cheese in preparation.

Let the good cheese roll at this year’s Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. Ed Hogan, aka “The Big Cheese,” is on a quest to build and serve a record number of grilled cheese sandwiches during the fair’s nine-day run, The Gazette reported.

“I’m a vegetarian,” he said. “I don’t eat meat, but I do like cheese.”

And so do fair-goers, according to The Gazette. Hogan’s stand sold 8,400 sandwiches and made $64,000 at last year’s fair.

He wants to serve up 10,000 sandwiches this year.

The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair runs Friday through Aug. 17 in Gaithersburg.
