Blazers to Keep an Eye on

Five Blair athletes who shined in week one.

The Blair boys basketball team had a tough opening week, losing both of their first two regular season games. The girls on the other hand, are 2-0 after beating Clarksburg and Kennedy.

Between both rosters, a group of five athletes has emerged atop the rest, at least for now.

1. Johanna Lopez
Lopez hit the on Friday and is averaging 17 points per game.

2. Tucker Canary
Canary led his team in points in both of the first two games. The most impressive stat from Friday's loss to Kennedy though, was his 9-11 free throw shooting.

3. Myla Sapp
After scoring 16 and 14 points in the season's first two games, Sapp is looking awfully consistent. Her 0-5 free throw shooting has yet to hurt the team, but that will change if she continues to have issues in that area.

4. Josh Kickenson
On a team that's struggling to score, Kickenson's modest 6.5 points per game thus far are actually a fair contribution. Expect him to amp that up a bit as the season progresses. If his teammates come along for the ride, the boys team should be alright.

5. Coach Erin Conley
Okay so she's not a Blair athlete, but no one else really jumps off the page at this point. Coaching her team to a 2-0 start is impressive enough to make the list.
