10 Montgomery County Public Schools Without Power

Schools without power at 7 a.m. won't open for last day of school year.

Friday is the last scheduled day of the school year for students in Montgomery County Public Schools. But not all may be headed to school.

As of 9:30 p.m. Thursday, 10 county schools were without power after a strong storm swept across the region Thursday afternoon. If those schools are still without power at 7 a.m. Friday they will be closed, the school system said in a news release. The schools are:

  • Beall Elementary in Rockville.
  • College Gardens Elementary in Rockville.
  • Harmony Hills Elementary in Aspen Hill.
  • Sargent Shriver Elementary in Wheaton.
  • Strathmore Elementary in Aspen Hill.
  • Westover Elementary in Colesville.
  • Wheaton Woods Elementary.
  • Sligo Middle in Silver Spring
  • Wheaton High/Thomas Edison High School of Technology.
  • The Blair G. Ewing Center in Rockville.

Parents will be notified directly by the schools if they are closed, the release said.
