MoverMoms Is Bringing Holiday Cheer to Hurricane Victims

Local non-profit is collecting items to pack in care packages for all the households in a Jersey shore town.

This week, Bethesda-based MoverMoms (www.movermoms.com) is reaching out to the community to collect items for residents of the town of Sea Bright, New Jersey, which suffered catastrophic damage during Hurricane Sandy in late October.  The non-profit organization is hoping to collect enough things to pack about 1500 care packages, enough to provide one for each household in the Jersey shore town.

"These people have suffered heavily from the forces of Mother Nature," says MoverMoms Executive Director Rebecca Kahlenberg. "Our goal is to provide some holiday cheer."

The items needed for the care packages include:

---small candles

---holiday chocolates

---hot cocoa or tea

---dried fruits or nuts

---holiday cards

---any other small holiday-related items

Collection will run until Friday, December 7th. Drop-offs can be made 24/7 at either of these two addresses, where you can leave donations outside near the front door:

7101 Loch Lomond Drive, Bethesda

11110 Candlelight Lane, Potomac

Everything will be packed this weekend and then brought to the town of Sea Bright. "We are taking the phrase 'spread the holiday cheer' to heart and literally trying to do exactly that," says Kahlenberg. "We welcome and appreciate any help from the community in this project."
