You? You never speed. Wouldn’t even think of it. But for your neighbors who do, Takoma Park police recently released a list of locations of speed cameras in town.

There are five fixed-pole speed cameras and three portable speed camera units. They are located in the:

  • 400 block of Ethan Allen Avenue, eastbound.

  • 500 block of Ethan Allen Avenue, westbound.

  • 7100 block of New Hampshire Avenue, northbound.

  • 7200 block of New Hampshire Avenue, southbound.

  • 900 block of University Boulevard, eastbound.

  • 900 block of East West Highway, westbound.

  • 7400 block of Carroll Avenue, northbound.

  • 7400 block of Carroll Avenue, southbound.

Also, two stretches of road in Takoma Park have been approved as Safe Speed Corridors, a new approach from Montgomery County police that authorizes officers to ticket speeders on any stretch of road, rather than just as they’re crossing a fixed spot. The corridors are on:

  • Northbound and southbound New Hampshire Avenue, from the 6900 block to the 7600 block.

  • Eastbound University Boulevard East, from the 900 block to the 1300 block.
