We Are Takoma Brings Theatrical Jazz to the Stage
Check out the latest We Are Takoma event.
The city auditorium will host Susan Faucon's WAMMIE award winning theatrical jazz project Killer Stilts April 10 at 2 p.m. The event is free but donations are welcome.
Liz Briones, Pam Parker, Karla Chisholm and Susan Faucon are the stars
of Killer Stilts. They sing and squabble about beauty, money, sex, love and conspiracy. There's lots of thought provoking, irreverent and musical conversation according to a release from the city. And the band in the production will perform a diverse collection of original jazz, funk, blues and pop blended with the dialogue and humor.
This new genre, coined by Faucon, theatrical jazz, is a blend of original music and scripted dialogue. What distinguishes this genre from traditional musical theatre is that it is performed like any concert might be with the added element of scripted dialogue interlaced between songs to share a storyline, a city news release said. Killer Stilts does not offer a storyline, it offers a line of ideas and a conversation between three women sharing about beauty, love, sex and what goes on in the minds of contemporary women.
