Washington Gas to Start Months-Long Project

There will be a public meeting on the project June 7.

 

Over the next several months, Washington Gas will be conducting repairs and enhancements to the natural gas distribution system in Takoma Park, according to a letter from the utility provider

There will be a meeting to discuss this project on June 7 at 7:30 pm at the Takoma Park Presbyterian Church at 310 Tulip Ave.

The following streets will be affected:

  • Maple Ave., between the DC line and Philadelphia Ave.
  • Willow Ave., between Carroll Ave. and Valley View Ave.
  • Tulip Ave., between Cedar Ave and Carroll Ave.
  • Spruce Ave., between Tulip Ave. and Park Ave.
  • Valley View Ave., between Maple Ave. and Park Ave.
  • Carroll Ave, between the DC Line and Willow Ave.  

The work is necessary to enhance system reliability, Washington Gas said.  The company will change over around 114 individual services ad replace around 76 services. The services will be converted from existing low pressure to a higher pressure, which will provide enhanced service capability, the company said.

The construction phase of their work is expected to take eight to 10 months, but could vary depending on weather conditions and other factors, said Washington Gas.
