Too Young to Vote, Girl Scouts Hit Poll With Cookies

Girl Scouts from St. Joseph Parish in Fullerton sold cookies outside Perry Hall Elementary.

Election Day is filled with important decisions. For some, that includes deciding between Samoas, Thin Mints and Do-Si-Dos—of course, unlike voting, Girl Scouts hope you'll choose every flavor.

A Girl Scout troop based at St. Joseph Parish in Fullerton set up shop outside the Perry Hall Elementary School poll on Tuesday, hoping to gain sales from the more than 850 voters who visited the poll before noon.

Rick Ross was one of the voters turned cookie customers.

"You like to sell them and I like to eat them. I don't think you're peddling any political ideas," Ross said. "I think it's a good idea."

Scouts Sarah Shellhorn and Elizabeth Lelonek, both 16, said sales were steady. Proceeds from sales will be used toward a rafting trip, camping trips and a haunted tour.

"I think they see us and think they can help us out," Shellhorn said.

Georgianne Lelonek, Elizabeth Lelonek's mother, said the cookies pair well with voting. "Girl Scouts is an organization that serves God and country, and this election, people are making decisions to preserve those things, as well," she said.

Girl Scouts selling cookies were also spotted outside Perry Hall Middle School and Joppa View Elementary School.

Great Job ! Please support the girls - This is the only real fundraiser the troops may have - If you can't have the cookies , please give a donation.

Maybe I'm sensitive, the last thing this election about is preserving God and country, unless you are a Tea Partier. I support the Girl Scouts, I don't support the Mom.

I got mine in Kingsville. I always tell them that it's not fair to put such enticing things to buy where I can see them. I never pass them up! I was told that Samoas were winning the election hands down.

I didn't see the Girl Scout cookie sellers at Pine Grove Elementary School. I will have to check the grocery stores and hope they are selling them there. Great cookies and for a great cause.

Go to www.gscm.org, select cookies and I think there's a link called COOKIE LOCATOR that tells you where the girls are having booth sales throughout central maryland. Its also an App you can download. Or go to http://cookielocator.littlebrownie.com. good luck and buy extras, they freeze well!
