Tim Male to Run For Takoma Park Ward 2 Council Seat

Current Ward 2 Councilwoman Colleen Clay will not seek reelection.

With Takoma Park Ward 2 Councilwoman Colleen Clay this November, one person has come forward so far to run for the seat.

Tim Male, who served on city's Task Force on Environmental Action and Safe Roadways Task Force, will seek election for the Ward 2 council seat, he said.

Male has lived in Takoma Park since 2002, when he moved there from Hawaii.

"Being new to the Washington area then, I never dreamed of finding such a wonderful home where a real sense of community exists in so many big and small ways," he said in a press release.

Male is vice president for Conservation Policy at the nonprofit Defenders of Wildlife. He is concerned with environmental sustainability, but also affordability issues in the city, he said.

Male holds a PhD in conservation biology from the University of Hawaii and a B.S. in biology from Yale University. He received a Fulbright Fellowship and a German Marshall Memorial Fellowship.
