Task Force Appointed to Help Select New Takoma Park City Manager
Interviews for position expected to begin in early December
The Takoma Park City Council appointed 27 representatives Tuesday to serve on a task force to help select the next city manager.
The City Manager Selection Task Force will be responsible for creating a position profile, reviewing applications and participating in interviews. They will also meet with executive search firm The Mercer Group, Inc., to discuss position qualifications.
After the search is conducted, the task force will review resumes and recommend a short list to the council. The tentative timeframe envisions interviews for the position in early December, according to city clerk Jessie Carpenter.

“The council will also be feeding into the process, but this community group will put together what they think would fit best for the city of Takoma Park,” Carpenter said. “This is a way of involving the whole community in this process.”
Former City Manager Barbara Matthews resigned Sept. 7 to take a position with the City of Rockville.
