Takoma Park Promotes Car Free Day

Take public transportation or ride your bike to work tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Car Free Day in D.C. and Takoma Park decided to join the city to promote sustainable transportation.

Car Free Day invites Washington area citizens to try alternative forms of transportation such as transit, bicycling and walking, and car lite methods such as carpools, vanpools, and teleworking, Takoma Park Mayor Bruce Williams wrote in his proclamation.

The day will help Takoma Park through improved air quality, reduced traffic congestion and parking demands, and the conservation of energy, Williams wrote.
