Takoma Park Council Takes No Position on Washington Adventist Move

The full panel will makes its decision on the matter on Oct. 18.

A  that suggested Washington Adventist Hospital stay in Takoma Park rather than make the move to a new White Oak campus prompted the Takoma Park City Council to discuss the move at Monday's Council meeting, but no firm stance was taken.

"Our goal is to ensure Takoma Park residents have convenient access to quality healthcare," Mayor Bruce Williams said, "we are not taking a formal position" on the move.

The Council will meet with Washington Adventist Hospital officials and have a public hearing regarding the sustainability of the move and what it means for healthcare in Takoma Park, Williams said.

Commissioner Barbara McLean wants the hospital's application for relocation denied, according to a 174-page recommendation she sent to other commissioners.
