There is money to be had in the city. The deadline for applications for the Takoma Park Small Community Grant Program is Oct. 19.
The city council established the program to work in partnership with the community to help with projects that directly benefits Takoma Park. There is $10,000 allocated for the Small Community Grant Program in 2013.
The council will consider a broad range of requests, but all grant proposals must describe how the project or program will benefit the city.
Grants may be used as seed money to start new programs and there is no minimum request. The maximum amount of each grant is $2,500.
The council is most interested in new neighborhood associations and partnerships that will strengthen existing associations.
Grants require a 100 percent match from other sources.
