Takoma Park City Manager Looking to Move to Rockville Post

A meet-and-greet is scheduled for June 2.

The Rockville City Council on Wednesday released the names of the three finalists in the search for a new city manager including Takoma Park's City Manager Barbara Matthews.

"As of right now, City Manager Barbara Matthews is focused on the day to day business of running Takoma Park," Takoma Park Media Specialist Craig Terrill said.

Matthews declined to comment on the possible move.

They other two candidates are:

  • Paul Folkers, Assistant city manager of Gainesville, FL.
  • Thomas Moton, assistant city manager and acting city manager of Greenville, NC.

The community is invited to the  from 3 to 5 p.m. on June 2 to meet the finalists and provide input for the council to consider in their selection.

The three finalists were narrowed from a group of seven candidates selected for interviews by the council out of a pool of 61 applicants, according to a city news release.

Richmond, VA-based Springsted, Inc. is conducting the search for a new city manager under a $20,800 contract with the city.

Rockville operates under a council-manager form of government. The city manager provides management and administrative support for the day-to-day business of the city, including carrying out policy enacted by the City Council.
