Everyone Eats Fresh: A Day at the Crossroads Farmers Market in Photos

The Crossroads Farmers Market has everything from prepared foods to jewelry.

Now in its fifth season, the Crossroads Farmers Market is Takoma Park's "other farmers market." It's less well known than the Carroll Avenue market, but its mission is to serve a different crowd.

Crossroads was the first market in the country to offer double dollars for shoppers using the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) farmers market nutrition program. It was the first in the state to take those assistance programs as forms of payment.

The market has an international flavor with prepared foods from South and Central America and produce ranging from standard farmers market fare to vegetables and spices used in Latin and Asian food.
