Pepco Reports Outages In 20912

Update Feb. 3 1:25 a.m.: Pepco is now reporting less than five outages in 20912.

Original story: Despite the gorgeous weather, Pepco is reporting 1517 outages out of 7653 customers in 20912. The outage map is showing Feb. 3 10 a.m. as the time power will be restored to the area.

Takoma Park is no stranger to outages from the energy provider. The Jan. 26 snow storm yielded , many of which weren't restored until Jan. 30. 

City officials have long been complaining about Pepco's service during storms. 

"We now know that Pepco ranks in the bottom 25 percent of U.S. utility companies in the frequency of outages, and this does not include outages for major storms," Councilwoman Valerie Ervin (D-District 5), who represents Takoma Park, said at an .

Takoma Park Councilman Ruben Snipper also voiced concerns about Pepco's communication with residents at the same meeting.
