National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory for Tuesday

The air quality is code orange.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the Washington, D.C. area that goes into effect at noon today until 8 p.m. tonight.

Temperatures will be in the upper 90s and when that is combined with high humidity, heat illnesses are possible, NWS said.

Also, The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments in association with the Maryland Department of the Environment, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and District Department of Environment issued a code orange air quality alert Tuesday for the D.C metro region.

Code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups such as children, asthma sufferers, people with heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly.
