Mizeur-Sponsored Open Government Bill Signed Into Law

The legislation will create a Joint Committee on Transparency and Open Government.

The Maryland Reporter wrote yesterday that open government legislation sponsored by Del. Heather Mizeur (D - Dist. 20) was signed into law by Governor Martin O'Malley. 

The legislation will create a Joint Committee on Transparency and Open Government.

Included in the bill are suggestions to improve the legislature's website, centralizing information on contract bids, tax credits for business and other incentives and incorporating more data from the governor’s StateStat program for measuring government effectiveness into the legislature’s website.

The bill had 37 co-sponsors, including ten republicans and the committee will have 12 members, six from the house and six from the senate.
