In a lecture fitting of the People's Republic of Takoma Park, economist Andrew Kliman will discuss the failure of capitalist production and its relation to the recession Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at the .
In his newest book, The Failure of Capitalist Production: Underlying Causes of the Great Recession, Kliman concludes that Karl Marx’s theory of economic crisis fits the facts of how America came to its recession.
"The Great Recession and its persistent after-effects are the results of a half-century-long decline in profitability and its consequences, namely, decades of weak investment, sluggish economic growth, and mounting debt problems," according to a release about the event.
Kliman is Professor of Economics at Pace University in New York.
