I personally think that gay marriage is wrong. Yes, I do think that those of
the gay/lesbian community should be able to have the privileges of health care and other advantages as straight individuals do; however I still believe in the sanctity of marriage being between one man and one woman! Do those who choose the gay lifestyle need health care protection which may not be allowed, yes absolutely! I may be going against the grain of some I know who think that even civil unions are wrong but I would endorse those who do believe in civil unions.

Richard, I think your thought process is in line with what most gay people and their supporters think. Different religions have (and should have) the right to define marriage as they wish. The union between two people in the eyes of their god is an important thing. However, in this country, the state issuing a CIVIL marriage license and the church (or what have you) having a RELIGIOUS marriage ceremony are two separate things. Is there a legitimate reason to keep consenting adults of the same sex from marrying each other in the legal, civil sense? I can't think of one, but certainly understand and am fine with the fact that most religions wish to keep their separate definition of marriage as between a man and a woman.
