Council Meeting to Feature Public Discussion on Flower Ave Annexation

Rights would transfer from the state to the city.

Takoma Park City Council will hold a public hearing Monday night at the community center to discuss the city's  from the state.

The annexation first came up when the state found out it didn't own parts of 410 in Takoma Park and suggested . Residents did not take kindly to giving 410 for the state, so the city decided  and work with each road separately. There has been no movement on 410 other than verifying city ownership.

Annexing the road and overseeing its maintenance would provide a better city image in that area, Councilman Fred Schultz (Ward 6) said.

"People see Flower as an entryway into Takoma Park. On one side there are trees, and sidewalks," Schultz said. "And on the other side there is  what could be charitably called crap. It reflects poorly on city. We need to give definition to the street and build a proper sidewalk."
