Council Gives Public Opportunity to Comment on Budget

Check out our budget timeline below.

Tomorrow night's council meeting will be the last time residents get a chance to speak out before the council puts forth a revised version of the city manager's proposed budget. The meeting will be held, as usual, at 7:30 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center.

On April 4, City Manager Barbara Matthews presented  and the Takoma Park City Council has spent the last few weeks debating each department's cut and hearing from residents what they want.
After Monday night the council will put together it's own version and present it at two meetings before it's voted on.

  • April 25 - Public hearings where residents get to comment on how they'd like to see the proposed budget adjusted.
  • After the second public hearing on April 25 - The Council will start deciding how it might want to adjust the budget recommendations.
  • May 16 - First reading of the budget ordinance.
  • May 23 - Second reading of the budget ordinance.
