The Takoma Park Tree Commission, a government group tasked with protecting the city's urban forest, will present it's annual report.

The Tree Commission, with the assistance of the City Arborist, proposes rules, regulations, procedures and actions to be taken by the city to preserve and protect the urban forest, according to the council agenda. The rules are subject to the approval of the Council.

The second tree report will come from Takoma Park Arborist Todd Bolton. Every year the arborist provides a report to the city council identifying significant activities affecting the urban forest, according to the agenda. This year, Bolton has prepared a written report regarding tree planting, maintenance and removal activity within the city.

The council will also be voting on a resolution to support the gas tax hike. The gas tax rate of 23.5 cents per gallon on the sale of gasoline in Maryland has remained the same since 1992, according to the council agenda. Maryland ranks 30th in the nation in the amount of gas tax imposed. Much of the money from the tax goes to Maryland Transportation Trust Fund, which pays for transportation infrastructure.
