City Council Members Become Foodies at Next Council Meeting

The council will discuss the city's food truck program.

The Takoma Park City Council meeting Tuesday night will be tastier than most.

The council will discuss the success of the city's food truck program.

The program, kickstarted by the Old Takoma Business Association, started July 13 with the Go Fish food truck and ran for a three-month trial period, according to a report in The Gazette.

The first run was such a success that Go Fish sold out of food.

The council will also endorse the Ethan Allen Gateway streetscape design and authorize solicitation of project funds.

The city's support of the program is laudable, but I think it's more accurate to call it the Old Takoma Business Association food truck program. OTBA includes businesses in the city of Takoma Park and across the line in Washington, D.C. This past Friday, food trucks appeared in two locations, as described on the Main Street Takoma web site -- http://www.mainstreettakoma.org/events FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2012 FROM 5:00PM TO 8:00PM Food Truck Fridays - DOUBLE PLAY Food trucks at both the Takoma Junction - in the City Parking Lot next to the TPSS Co-op at 201 Ethan Allen Avenue AND at Trohv at 232 Carroll St, NW Washington, DC Time: 5pm-8pm
