Candidates Officially Nominated for City Election

The ballots are official. Here is who's running for Takoma Park City Council this year.

The nominating caucus is over and the Takoma Park City Council races are official.

There were a couple surprises. Jeffrey Noel-Nosbaum and Mike Graul came out to run for Ward 3. Before the caucus, Kay Daniels-Cohen was the only candidate to announce a Ward 3 run.

Here are some facts about the upcoming election:

  • Three incumbents (Wards 1, 2 and 3) decided not to run for reelection.
  • Ward 6 Incumbent Fred Schultz is the only sitting councilman being challenged.
  • Jeffrey Noel-Nosbaum and Mike Graul (Ward 3) were the only candidates to be nominated, but not announce their candidacy before the caucus
  • The Mayoral race as well as the race for Wards 1, 4 and 5 are all uncontested.

  • Mayor: Bruce Williams
  • Ward 4: Terry Seamens. Eric Mendoza self-nominated but received no second.
  • Ward 5: Reuben Snipper

There will be three candidate forums in the coming weeks.

The Victory Tower Senior Association in Ward 1 will hold its candidates forum Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

South of Sligo & Long Branch Citizens Associations will be having a Ward 2 candidate forum in the Azalea Room at Takoma Park Community Center on Oct. 18.

Takoma Voice will have a candidate forum on Oct. 19 in the Community Center Auditorium.

The election is Nov. 8; residents can register to vote until Oct. 10.
