15th Annual Heritage Days Festival Begins on Saturday
Silver Spring and other areas in Montgomery County will open their doors for free tours and activities this weekend.
The 15th annual Montgomery County Heritage Days festival takes place this weekend, with free events that offer visitors historic, cultural and nature adventure opportunities.
On Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., visitors are invited to more than 30 open houses and events across the county. There’s one event near Takoma Park, but most of the others are within a short drive – check out the full Montgomery County Heritage Days event guide.
Historic Silver Spring B & O Railroad Station
When: Saturday and Sunday
Where: 8100 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring
Why: Visitors can tour the restored 1945 National Register B&O station with model railroads for kids of all ages. Try your hand at the “Switcher” module and consult with the “Ask a Member Train Clinic.” Watch HO model kit-building demonstrations and learn about railroad safety. Refreshments will be served. Opens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
