Woman Robbed Wednesday on Westmoreland Ave

The suspect fled into the District.

A woman's purse was stolen when she was forced to the ground Wednesday morning in the 7000 block of Westmoreland Avenue. 

The victim was walking on Westmoreland Avenue toward Carroll Avenue when a heavy-set black male in dark clothing walking down Carroll Avenue grabbed her purse with one hand and the victim's arm with the other forcing her to the ground, Takoma Park Police said.  

The suspect then fled on foot down Westmoreland Avenue toward Walnut Avenue. Once on Walnut Avenue, a police K-9 tracked across Eastern Avenue into the District of Columbia where the track ended in the rear of an auto repair shop located in the 200 block of Van Buren Street in the District, police said

The suspect is described as a black male of heavy build, last seen wearing all dark clothing.
