Woman Charged With Striking Pregnant Woman With Tiki Torch

One victim, who is seven months pregnant, was treated for injuries after being struck in the stomach. A man who tried to help her was stabbed and underwent surgery, authorities said.

Police say a Washington, D.C., woman faces charges after forcing her way into a Takoma Park apartment, where she hit a pregnant woman in the stomach with a broken tiki torch and then stabbed a man who came to the victim’s aid, reports the Washington Post.

Katherlan Johnson, 46, of Washington, D.C., knew the victims and shoved her way into the residence when the couple wouldn’t answer the door, authorities told the newspaper. The female victim, who is seven months pregnant, was treated at the scene.

The injured man underwent surgery and is doing well, Takoma Police spokeswoman Cathy Plevy told the Post Friday.

Johnson is charged with first-degree burglary second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property less than $1,000, the newspaper said.
