Two Burglaries and an Armed Robbery Hit Takoma Park This Weekend

One burglary was on Halloween.

Takoma Park Police responded t0 a residential burglary in the 6700 block of Gude Avenue Sunday. Perpetrators entered the residence through an unsecured rear sliding glass door and removed the victims property before fleeing. There was no suspect description.

On Friday between 6 and 8 p.m. perpetrators made entry into a residence in the 1100 block of Kirklynn Avenue by breaking a side basement window.  Once inside the they removed property and exited out the basement side door, police said.

The two burglaries have no been found to be related.

On Saturday around 10:37 p.m. Takoma Park Police responded to an armed robbery in the 7000 block of Carroll Avenue.  The victims were sitting at the bus stop in front of Victory Towers when they observed  two men with their faces covered across the street, police said.

The men approached the victims with their faces covered and pretended to be looking at bus stop run times. Then one of the men pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at the couple, police said.

He put it back in his waistband so they could still see it and demanded the victims phones while the second man stood off to the side as a look out, police said.

The suspects took the female victim's purse and the male victim's jacket, wallet and his watch. The two suspects traveled southwest on foot through the park toward Westmooreland Avenue. A K-9 track was able to confirm the route of escape but went no farther then the park, police said.

A short time after the armed robbery in Takoma Park, Fairfax County Police apprehended the two suspects after they were caught attempting another armed robbery in that jurisdiction, police said.
