Two Arrested for Drug Possession, Thefts from Autos

A traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and paraphernalia, and to a string of thefts from autos.

Takoma Park Police arrested Deondray Osbourne, 22, and Raphfel Osbourne, 20, both of Washington, DC, following a traffic stop in Takoma Park, at which time Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) paraphernalia and drugs were discovered in the vehicle.

At approximately 10:43 a.m. on Oct. 9, police observed a suspicious vehicle which was occupied by three individuals. The vehicle attempted to flee and turned down the dead-end street of Circle Avenue; one of the occupants of the vehicle got out and fled, police said. 

A traffic stop was initiated on Circle Avenue. While the driver asked the officer for directions, the officer observed Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) paraphernalia and requested a K-9 to search and recover the drugs, police said.

A search of the vehicle revealed items linking the two men to a theft from auto that occurred Oct. 9 in the unit block of Valley View Avenue, as well as one that occurred Oct. 7 in the 200 block of Park Avenue, police said. Further checks of pawn history revealed that the subjects were responsible for a theft from auto from Holly Avenue on Sept. 19, police added. Charges are pending.

Both men were arrested for possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), two counts of possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) paraphernalia, and two counts of theft and conspiracy to commit theft, police said.

There were additional items recovered from the vehicle that have not yet been linked to any thefts or burglaries, but the investigation continues under case No. 11050103, police said.
