Two Armed Robberies In Takoma Park Overnight

The robberies were within two hours of each other.

Two people were robbed at gunpoint in separate events late Monday night.

On Aug. 20 at 11:19 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the Econo Lodge in 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The victim said she had just left the Econo Lodge and was in the parking lot when a suspect approached her, brandished a black handgun and demanded that she return to the Econo Lodge with him.

Once inside, where there was a second victim, the suspect demanded property.

The suspect exited the Econo Lodge and fled on foot, crossing New Hampshire Avenue toward Kingwood Drive.

Two hours earlier, at 9:19 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 7000 block of Carroll Avenue to a parking lot and a report of an armed robbery.

The victim said she was standing in the parking lot when she was approached by a suspect from behind with a handgun. The suspect demanded property. The victim complied and the suspect fled in an awaiting vehicle towards the District of Columbia.
