Three Arrested in Takoma Park Burglaries

Men allegedly had a hand in five burglaries.

Takoma Park Police, attempting to curtail a surge in burglaries in the last few months, have arrested three men believed responsible for at least five recent break-ins.

Shamount Campbell, 22, of Takoma Park, was arrested for for 1st degree burglary and malicious destruction of property. Campbell currently is jailed in Clarksburg, MD.

Also arrested were Antwain Whitfield, 22, of Washington, DC, and Matthew Starks, 24, of Hyattsville.

The three also allegedly had a hand in burglaries in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and the District, where stolen vehicles were used in several of the burglaries.

Takoma Park Police also are waiting to evaluate forensic evidence from several other cases.

Officers are intensifying their investigations in response to an uptick in burglaries in both August and September.
