Three Hyattsville Juveniles Charged in Takoma Park Burglary

One juvenile tried to flee the scene.

Three male juveniles, all from Hyattsville, were arrested by Takoma Park Police  Jan. 3 for first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, rogue and vagabond, trespassing, truancy and conspiracy to commit first and third-degree burglaries, Takoma Park Police Chief Ron Ricucci said. Two of the juveniles were also charged with making false statements to a police officer, he said.

Police responded Tuesday to the 7100 block of 13th Ave. for reports of three males walking in the rear yard of a residence and found one juvenile banging on the door of the residence, police said. Officers commanded the juvenile to sit on the steps, but instead he attemped to flee toward New Hampshire Avenue, according to police.

The juvenile was chased across six lanes of New Hampshire Avenue and then taken into custody, police said.

The other two juveniles were located sitting inside a storage room. They were taken into custody, arrested and charged. They were then released to the custody of their respective parents, police said.
