Theft From Auto Trend Continues in Takoma Park

On Aug. 26, around 11:55 a.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 300 block of Elm Avenue for reports of suspicious subjects in the parking lot.

Three people were hanging out around a vehicle in the parking lot and when they realized they were being watched, the fled in a black pick-up truck, police said.

When police inspected the vehicle they discovered the side window had been broken out and property had been taken from the vehicle.

During the same time frame, another citizen called the Takoma Park Police station about two subjects walking in the area of Elm Avenue and Pine Avenue.

Both were in a black pick-up truck and drove toward Montgomery Avenue.

In the series of break-in, most suspects entered vehicles through unlocked doors. Windows were broken in three cases, a door lock was damaged in one case, but opened unlocked doors led to thefts in 13 cases.
