Takoma Park Sees Another Theft from a Gas Station

The thieves fled toward D.C.

Another car was broken into at a gas station in Takoma Park, but this time it wasn't .

, another gas station has been hit.

On Feb. 11, officers responded for a theft from auto that occurred at the in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Takoma Park Police said.

At arround 2:25 p.m., the victim was pumping gas and then went inside to pay the cashier. A silver Chevrolet Camaro pulled up alongside of the victim’s vehicle and a black male suspect exited and removed property by opening the passenger side door to the victim’s vehicle, police said. The car then fled down New Hampshire Avenue toward D.C.

One reason for the criminals flee toward D.C. is because the crime is a misdemeanor theft, not a robbery, and police are not allowed to chase suspects over the D.C. line, which is where most of them escape, according to Takoma Park Police Crime Analyst Andrew Gucciardo said.
