Takoma Park Police Step Up Traffic Enforcement as Part of Statewide Campaign

No accidents occurred in Takoma Park the weekend of Aug. 5-7, police said.

Takoma Park Police kicked off a campaign for traffic safety Aug. 5 along with other departments in Maryland and elevated traffic enforcement. The goal is to have zero traffic fatalities, police said.

During the weekend of August 5-7 Takoma Park Police stepped up enforcement issued the following citations.

  • State Tickets:  17
  • Warnings:  7
  • Criminal Citations:  1 (Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) in a vehicle)
  • Safety Equipment Repair Orders:  3
  • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI):  1

There were no accidents over that weekend, Takoma Park Police Chief Ronald Ricucci said.
