Takoma Park Police Hold 'Refuse to Be a Victim' Seminar

This is the third time it's being held.

Need some tips on how to avoid being the target of crime? The Takoma Park Police will hold a third installment of the Refuse to Be a Victim seminar, hosted by Crime Prevention Specialist, Janice Hart, of the Front Royal, Va., Police Department, Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This seminar is open to all residents and will be held at the council auditorium at 7500 Maple Ave.

This time around, the seminar has been extended to four hours so police can spend more time on topics that residents have requested also have more time for questions. The seminar will focus more on Takoma Park issues this time as a result of resident input.

As a result of our last two seminars and resident feedback, some of the
topics to be covered more in-depth this time are:

●       Video cameras
●       Being mugged
●       Internet/Computer safety
●       Self defense
●       Physical security
●       Personal protection if attacked
●       Street robberies
●       Attempt burglaries while you are home

Call Cathy Plevy at 301-891-7142 or e-mail her at Cathyp@takomagov.org to sign up for the seminar.
