Takoma Park National Night Out Set For Aug. 2

National Night Out will be at Piney Branch Elementary School.

Update: Governor Martin O'Malley (D) will be attending the Takoma Park National Night Out event at Piney Branch Elementary, according to a release from his office. O'Malley will be there at 6 p.m.

Original Story: Takoma Park Police will be heading into the community to celebrate National Night Out Aug. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Piney Branch Elementary School at 7510 Maple Ave.

The goal of the event is to "heighten safety and crime prevention awareness; to support locally-based businesses, groups, and organizations; and to strengthen relationships among community members and between the community and local police department," according to the National Night Out website.

  • Bike Safety Demonstrations & Tune-Ups
  • Canine Demonstration
  • Child Fingerprinting
  • Kid Zone 
  • McGruff the Crime Dog
  • Police Vehicles on Display
  • Park Police Mounted Division
