Takoma Park Man Arrested for Houston Court Burglary

Leonard Bernard Smith confessed to the crime during questioning, police said.

A Takoma Park man was arrested for first-degree burglary and malicious destruction of property stemming from an incident in the 8200 block of Houston Court on Nov. 9, Takoma Park Police said.

Property management personnel on site told police the apartment door was broken by force and property from inside was missing.

An investigation led police to Leonard Bernard Smith, 39, who was suspected in the crime, police said.

On Nov. 17 around 5:51 p.m., officers responded to Smith's address and placed him under arrest on a burglary warrant, police said.

During questioning, Smith confessed to the burglary charges and was transported to the Central Processing Unit without incident, police said.
