Takoma Park Crime Roundup: Thefts in Ward 1, Ward 3, Assaults in Ward 6

Here's all your crime news for the week on June 15 through June 21.

 

There were several reports of crime in Wards 1-3 and 6, plus numerous arrests between June 15 and June 21.

Ward 1:

Assault

  • 7000 blk. of Carroll Ave., on Friday, June 15th at 11:23 p.m., officers responded to an assault in progress. A male suspect and female suspect assaulted each other during an argument that turned physical. Each suffered minor injuries.


Larceny

  • 7000 blk. of Carroll Ave., on Sunday, June 17th at 2:17 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. A male suspect entered a business and asked to use the restroom. After the suspect left an employee noticed property missing from a purse.

Larceny from Vehicle

  • 800 blk. of Larch Ave., on June 17th at 8:05 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) broke a vehiclewindow to gain entry and stole property.

 

  • 1000 blk. of Elm Ave., on June 17th at 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) broke a vehiclewindow gain entry and stole a GPS unit.


Ward 3:

Robbery

  • 6300 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Tuesday, June 19th at 4:39 p.m.,officers responded to a robbery in progress. An unknown male suspect approached a male victim and demanded his property. A struggle ensued and the suspect assaulted the victim with a knife several times before fleeing into Prince George’s County. A canvass for the suspect yielded negative results. The victim suffered non-threatening injuries.


Larceny

  • 6300 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Monday, June 18th at 3:47 p.m., officers responded to a theft that just occurred. A male suspect removed an item from a store and fled without paying.


Larceny from Vehicle

  • 6600 blk. of Allegheny Ave., on Monday, June 18th at 11:56 p.m., officers responded to a theft that just occurred. Unknown victims entered an unlocked vehicle, but did not take any property.

Ward 6:

Assault

  • 7600 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on June 15th at 11:36 a.m., officers responded to an assault that just occurred. A male suspect assaulted a female victim and her son during an argument. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrive. The victims suffered minor injuries.


Arrests:

  • 7600 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Monday, June 18th at 12:37 p.m., a male 51 was arrested for trespassing.

 

  • 900 blk. of Merrimac Dr., on Monday, June 18th at 3:40 a.m., a male 40 was arrested for possession of marijuana.

 

  • Intersection of Park Ave. and Carroll Ave., on June 17th at 8:37 p.m., a male 22 was arrested for having an open alcoholic container in public.

 

  • 7600 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on June 16th at 1:16 a.m., a male 24 was arrested for having an open alcoholic container in public.

 

  • 7500 blk. of Maple Ave., on June 15th at 11:10 a.m., a male 23 was arrested for having an open traffic warrant.

 

  • 8400 blk. of Flower Ave., on June 17th at 3:15 p.m., a male 53 was arrested for having an open alcoholic container in public.

 

  • 7400 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on June 15th at 3:03 a.m., a male 42 was arrested for having a multiple open warrants.
