Takoma Park Crime Down, Might Spike in Summer

Police will be on the lookout for crime patterns this summer.

Crime is down through May from same time last according to Takoma Park Crime Analyst Andrew Gucciardo.

There have been 195 crimes committed through May as compared to 213 last year.

As the mercury shoots up, these numbers could rise as well.

"This is the time of the year when we often see crime spike, especially residential burglary and theft from vehicles," Gucciardo said. "We want citizens to keep this in mind when they are considering their personal safety."

Beyond the possible summer crime spike, police will be looking for trends in the crimes committed.

"Of course if a pattern is spotted we have systems in place to combat the issue," Gucciardo said.
