Takoma Park Announces National Night Out

The event, on Aug. 7, is free.

Takoma Park Police will join departments around the country in celebrating National Night Out on Aug. 7.

The free event will be held at Piney Branch Elementary School from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and feature informational brochures on various safety topics and crime prevention, food, games, give-aways and live music.

Residents will get the opportunity to talk to Takoma Park police officers in the hopes that the communication will help strengthen the relationship between community members and the police.

There will be police vehicles on display, officers and their horses from the Park Police mounted division, a canine demonstration, McGruff the Crime Dog, a moon bounce, face painting and Carmen’s Italian Ice truck.
