Shots Fired Incidents on Same Pace as 2011

Despite a recent rash of shots fired in Takoma Park, the incidents are not on the rise, Takoma Park Police Chief Ronald Ricucci said.

There were 34 cases of shots fired in 2011 and there have been 16 so far in 2012, according to Takoma Park Crime Analyst Andrew Gucciardo.

There were three cases of shots fired last week, but no evidence was found in any of the incidents. Still, police have confirmed that at least two of the cases were gunfire, Ricucci said.

"Fear in the community is at a high level right now," Ricucci said.

All available cars, both plain clothes and uniformed, respond whenever there is an incident, Ricucci said.
