Police Identify Suspect in Robbery of 84-year-old Woman

The victim was forced to withdraw thousands of dollars, a report said.

Police identified Linda McCorkle, 48, of Chillum, as the suspect in the robbery of an 84-year-old woman in Takoma Park, according to an MSNBC report.

The suspect, with her approached two toddlers, approached the victim at Murry's Steaks around noon on Thursday. The suspect told the victim she needed help cashing a check and that her children hadn't eaten in days, so the victim agreed to drive her to a Bank of America on New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park, police said.

Once in the car, the robber told the victim she had a gun and threatened her if she didn't withdraw several thousand dollars, the MSNBC report said.

After the transaction, the victim was dropped back off at Murry's Steaks.
